After signing up for a one-night stand through an exclusive matching agency, hopeless romantic Marianne Caldwell is swept away to a medieval land where she hopes to spend the night with a worthy man of honor.
Unsure of how she got from the Castillo Hotel in Las Vegas to a castle in the English countryside, Mare finds Robert, whose stunning physique and winning smile immediately convince her he’s the Robin Hood she’s been seeking. But despite his efforts saving her from a corrupt sheriff, his Jersey Shore accent and coarse ways unravel her romantic visions.
With her fairytale fantasies coming unhinged, Mare must decide if Robert is just a crass car salesman from Brooklyn or the chivalrous knight she’s looking for.

Excerpt:

“Well, Dallas, what did a pretty gal like you expect from this deal?”

There was no way in hell she would answer that question. So she employed her stellar skills of diversion and subterfuge. “What did a guy like you expect from this deal?” Okay, maybe not the cleverest line she’d ever come up with, but this guy with his mesmerizing eyes messed up her mojo.

He leaned back with his elbow on the mattress and flashed a brilliant smile. She swallowed hard. “To get to know a lovely young woman such as yourself and have a little adventure. You think you can handle that?”

Could he be any more cocky? His thinly veiled innuendo struck her with the delicacy of a baseball bat. No question he was hot. From a purely physical standpoint, he was perfection, but did anything rattle around behind those blue eyes?

She crossed her arms over her chest and tilted her chin. “What I want to know is, can you handle that?”

Oops, she hadn’t meant for that to sound like a challenge or an invitation, but even to her own ears, it did. He stood, his long legs closing the distance between them in two strides. She braced her legs to hold her ground, but retreated toward a wall. So much for holding my ground. Pressing her head back against a branch, she looked up into his even stare. God, his eyes were Ceylon blue, his lips full and lush. He stopped in front of her, but continued to lower his head toward hers. Other than the rustling wind, only her ragged breathing sounded amongst the leaves.

Robert braced his hands on either side of her shoulders, effectively trapping her between him and the tree. Every cell in her body buzzed with electrical current, and her gaze helplessly transfixed on him. The lids of his eyes lowered, and his straight nose brushed against hers.

“Can I kiss you?” His whispered request tickled her skin.

Chills swept over her heated body. Her knees gave way, and she sighed out some inaudible response he apparently took as affirmative. He brushed her lips with a kiss.

With agonizing leisure, his mouth eased over hers, first feathering her closed lips then caressing each one between his. His velvety flesh wisped like flower petals against hers, and the aroma of fresh mint scented his breath. The languid motion of his kiss ignited a desire that throbbed all the way down between her legs. The longer he lingered, the hotter she burned. He never sped his pace or reached for her in any other way. It was only a kiss, yet so much more.

His warm tongue slipped between her lips and slowly explored her mouth, sliding across her teeth and stroking her tongue. A soft moan escaped her and excruciating tension built in her core with each lazy thrust.

She wrapped her arms around his waist and trailed her fingers down his hips as she molded to his body. He gasped and ended the kiss. The staggering length of his arousal pressed into her abs and the burn in her sex flared into a raging inferno.

He rested his forehead against the tree, and she laid her hands on his chest with his body lightly molded to hers. The heat radiating between them smoldered hotter than the Vegas asphalt at high noon. His breaths were steady, but his heart pounded against her open palms.

His voice, deep and husky, sounded near her ear. “Maybe. Maybe not, Dallas.”

She opened her eyes. “Huh?”

He kept his eyes closed and rubbed his cheek against hers. “I was just answering your earlier question.”

She couldn’t remember the question. She’d be lucky to remember her own name.

Excerpt Night With A Dom

She set her toiletries on the bathroom counter and brushed through her hair. Examining herself in the mirror, she eyed her body critically. Hope he likes busty brunettes with blue eyes. She turned around to look at her derrière. Craning her head back over her shoulder, she lifted her skirt. Only one or two noticeable cellulite dimples. The lace of the thong rubbed her tailbone. An image of a large hand smacking her bare ass made her gasp and clench her legs together.

Was she really ready for a spanking? Her eyes fluttered closed. She’d always found the idea of a spanking erotic and had actually tried it once with Jason. But it just hadn’t been in him to slap her hard enough. He was too sweet and hated the thought of hurting her. The whole experience had left her disappointed, wanting more.

She shivered. But this Dominic, she felt pretty certain, would have no trouble hitting hard enough. At least if she completely embarrassed herself she’d never have to see him again. And thank the gods I don’t know him. But tonight she’d get to know him, wouldn’t she? Intimately.

Erotic thoughts swam in her mind. She pictured him as slightly older but fit. Strong and forceful. Her cheeks heated again at the thought of the special request she’d made. Her sex twitched. Madame Eve said he had no issues with her requests, although Mel couldn’t imagine a Dominate man would have any inhibitions when it came to sex. She reapplied her lipstick and headed to Room 1467 down the hall.

She reached the door and stopped short. Her palms became sweaty, her mouth went dry, and her sphincter clenched so tight she feared it might chew through her new underwear. Her hand trembled as she knocked.

“Enter.” A deep voice rumbled.

The Story of Egyptian Heart from Author Kathryn Meyer Griffith

I am blessed to have veteren author – Kathryn Meyer Griffith blogging with me today.  Kathryn, thank you for joining us.  The story of how Egyptian Heart has come to be in it’s current form is as interesting as the story itself.  Congratulations on the release and on finding a new forum for your voice in e-publishing.

Let me start with this: I have always loved ancient Egyptian stories since I was a child. I wrote one of my first school papers at around eleven years old in pencil on the ancient Egyptians after dragging home an armful of musty smelling books from the library. I don’t recall exactly why I loved this particular time period and the people that lived in it but it might have had something to do with the movies The Ten Commandments (I was raised a Catholic), the horror mummy movies of the 1960’s and the early TV shows on Nefertiti and Cleopatra. I just had this affinity for the period.

It was February 1994 (I noted it on the outside of the manila folder where I keep a book history on each novel) when I began Egyptian Heart. Originally I called it The Cursed Scarab. Later, I retitled it Egyptian Heart because I wanted it to more reflect the romance tale it had become.

My agent, who’d sold four earlier novels for me to Zebra Books told me about a new romantic horror line that Silhouette was starting called the Shadows Line. They wanted to tap into the darker romantic paranormal market.

She wanted me to branch out so I wrote two manuscripts for the Silhouette Shadows Line or tried to.  Egyptian Heart and Shadow Road. To make a long story short, Silhouette Shadows turned both down.

After that my agent dropped me. Ah, the life of a writer.

So, then life (as it has many times in my 39 year writing career), family and job problems, and my other novels (I was into murder mysteries for years and sold two to Avalon Books), got in the way and Egyptian Heart and Shadow Road went into drawer hibernation until 2004, when I rediscovered them, dug them out, rewrote them. Sometimes, I’ve found, a book left alone in a dark cubbyhole ages like good wine. (Or sometimes it just turns to vinegar.)

Egyptian Heart has had a very long history. Simply put, it’s a romantic time travel paranormal romance set in the ancient times of Nefertiti and her heretic Pharaoh Akhenaton.  It’s more romance than history, though I did a lot of research in 1994… originally for my 1994 Zebra horror paperback The Calling. I thought: why waste all this hard work for research on just one novel? So I also used it for Egyptian Heart and an erotic short story, The Nameless One, one that Zebra had placed in their 1994 horror anthology Dark Seductions

The new cover for Egyptian Heart by Dawne Dominique is amazingly beautiful and Kim Richards was my editor. Thank you both.

So from a child’s love of ancient Egypt to the finished book, it’s been a long journey and goes to show all you writer’s out there that, yes, persistence does sometimes win out.  And a good book never dies. It just ages like wine in a dark drawer.

I hope you’ll give Egyptian Heart a look and a read. The best way to describe it is through its blurb and so here it is:

Maggie Owen is a beautiful, spirited Egyptologist, but lonely. Even being in Egypt on a grant from the college she teaches at to search for an undiscovered necropolis she’s certain lies below the sands beyond the pyramids of Gizah doesn’t give her the happiness she’d hoped it would.

There’s always been and is something missing. Love.

Then her workmen uncover Ramose Nakh-Min’s ancient tomb and an amulet from his sarcophagus hurls her back to 1340 B.C – where she falls hopelessly in love with the man she was destined to be with, noble Ramose, who faithfully serves the heretic Pharaoh Akhenaton and his queen Nefertiti.

She’s fallen into perilous times with civil war threatening Egypt. She’s been mistaken for one of Ramose’s runaway slaves and with her light hair, jinn green eyes and fair skin she doesn’t fit in. Some say she’s magical and evil. Ramose’s favorite, Makere, tries to kill her.

The people, angry the Pharaoh has set his Queen aside and forced them to worship one god are rising up against him.

Maggie’s caught dangerously in the middle.

In the end, desperately in love, will she find a way to stay alive and with Ramose in ancient Egypt–and to make a difference in his world and history?

Because Maggie has finally found love. ***

Thank you all! Kathryn Meyer Griffith

Majorly Sweet Saturday Samples — One Knight in Brooklyn

Welcome to my 1st edition of Sweet Saturday Samples.

This sample comes from my upcoming release from Decadent Publishing, One Knight in Brooklyn.  Mare has just arrived at the Castillo Hotel in Vegas for her one-night stand date.  Victoria, the wise but mysterious concierge, is escorting her to her room for the evening.  Mare has just told the woman she wants the perfect guy to sweep her off her feet.  Enjoy.

“And who is the perfect guy, Ms. Caldwell?”

Mare swallowed hard.  “Well, you know…someone brave and gallant.  Someone romantic…handsome…”

Victoria stared intently and gave her a placating smile.  “May I provide a word of advice?”

Mare nodded.

The beautiful woman held her with an even gaze.  “My grandfather was a mariner, and he always said the Treasure of Cortez would never be found until the one who sought it looked beyond their desire.  Many wondrous treasures are often overlooked, Ms. Caldwell, for those that seek them cannot see beyond their own expectations.”

Mare rubbed down the hairs on her arms.

Thanks for stopping by and Click here for more great Sweet Saturday Samples.

One Knight in Brooklyn — Six Sentence Sunday

This  Six is from my upcoming release with Decadent Publishing’s 1NS series , One Knight in Brooklyn.

In this snippet, Mare has just seen her 1-Night Stand, Robert, for the first time.

Perfectly proportioned, he was fitted to her precise specifications.  Mare’s gaze flitted to his crotch. Though covered by the tunic, enough of a bulge pressed against the gauzy fabric to assure her of the fulfillment of even that desire.  This man wasn’t a knight; he was a god.  Strong.  Magnificent…

And then her paradigm shifted as something unfortunate happened – he spoke.

Check     here   for more great Six Sentence Sunday entries.
