Sexy Excerpt from Prophecy’s Child by Brenda Dyer

I’m so excited!!! And I just can’t hide it. I’m about to lose control and I think I like it!! I’m getting my Pointer Sisters on today because:

My good friend Brenda Dyer is here and she has kindly provided us with a little panty-melting scene from her newest release, Prophecy’s Child.

For those of you who have never read Brenda Dyer, please let me introduce you to a new favorite author. You have to read her sexy vampires, because, let me tell you, the love scenes are molten, the action is nail-biting, but those aren’t the best parts of her stories…oh no. The best part of her stories is the depth of character, the romantic chemistry and pure love her characters share.

Love’s Prophecy, the first book in The Prophecy series is the best Vampire Romance I’ve ever read and Prophecy’s Child is even better because I’ve got a serious crush on Kal, the hero in the second book.

rsz_amazon_copy

Here is the steamy excerpt from Prophecy’s Child — Be careful if you’re at work. You don’t want to overheat.

Katherine stepped back and undid the button on her jeans. Kal’s wild stare lent her courage. The zipper came next. She shoved the soft denim down her legs.

Pure male desire gleamed from his eyes. “You’re more beautiful then I remembered.”

Sexual power coursed through her. His words, coupled with his look, answered her earlier question of whether he still found her attractive.

He knelt down and ran his calloused palms up her calves, the back of her thighs, then massaged her butt. “I’m going to taste you now.”

Kal’s words cranked her arousal up another notch. He was simply stating a fact, not asking for her permission.

His fingers hooked the top of her panties, and with slow, torturous tugs, he peeled the red satin down her legs.

“Sweet perfection.” He lifted one of her legs and draped it over his shoulder, exposing her most private area to his burning gaze.

Hurry. I can’t take this much longer. His warm breath fanned over her moist sex. She trembled, waiting for his next move—for his tongue and lips.

And she didn’t have to wait long. The next second, his tongue dragged across her aching clit. Intense pleasure exploded through her nerves. She grabbed onto his head to hold herself up.

His silky blue and black hair brushed her thighs as he nuzzled deeper, stroking, licking. “Oh fuck, yeah. You’re so sweet,” he said in a low, rough voice.

Katherine glanced down. Eyes closed, nose and mouth buried in her folds, he sucked her swollen flesh. Pressure built, climbing, higher and higher. Her breathing turned to shallow gasps. She gripped handfuls of his hair, anchoring herself to Earth. “Kal…oh yes…don’t stop.”

His soft groans vibrated her clitoris. She closed her eyes and focused on his mouth and tongue.

All too soon, her body tightened as an orgasm roared through her. Her head tipped back. “Oh God, yes, yes.”

“That’s it, baby. Come for me.”

He resumed feasting, drawing out her pleasure. Wave after wave, tremor upon tremor wracked her body. On and on, they crashed over her until her legs quivered and she feared she’d faint.

Well, that got my blood pumping! Thanks for stopping by and reading.

Blurb for Prophecy’s Child

His secret will shatter her world.

Romance and the MC with a Disability by Tempeste O’Riley

Welcome, Tempeste! Glad to have you today!

Designs-of-Desire-200_zps7be4a6f0Hello and thank you Casea for hosting Designs of Desire, and me, the author, lol. Today I’m going to tackle an oft ignored topic… the disabled MC. It’s a topic that many don’t think about or concern themselves with—almost like if someone has a disability they aren’t a whole sexual being…Seriously!??

Everyone can have a fully enriching life despite physical or mental limitations. That said though, when I sat down to wrote DoD I didn’t say “Oh, I want to write a story where a disabled guy finds love.” No, what I thought about was how frustrated I get about how others perceive me and often treat me because I use forearm crutches and can’t walk much—or stand long without serious pain. The pity, anger, or out right dismissal of my existence. And so, James Bryant was born!

For James part of his disability is genetic (same as mine) and part is thanks to an ex and the damage done by him, but where a disability comes from has nothing to do with who the person is inside. Too often, in my opinion, the person that isn’t “perfect” gets passed over and ignored both in real life and in romance. I wanted James to find his “prince” and get his HEA, despite what the hate and/or pity of others had taught him about himself and his possibilities for love.

I’m not the only one to think this way, though maybe not always from a personal view point. Books such as Andrew Grey’s A Helping of Love or Love Comes Silently; Play It Again, Charlie, by R. Cooper; or Fix This, Sir, by Jaime Samms, do a wonderful job of depicting various disabilities and showing how, even when they don’t fit the masses “ideal of perfection” so many strive for, love and HEA’s are obtainable. And yes, these are fiction, but believe me; it’s just as possible in the real world, if only you open your eyes to the blessing and beauty within others and not just their wrappings.

As CEO of his company, Carrington Enterprises, Seth Burns is a take-charge kind of guy, and he is instantly smitten by the artist helping with his newest project. When he witnesses James suffer a panic attack, a protective instinct he never knew he had kicks in. He truly believes nothing is unobtainable—including James—if he’s willing to put in the time and effort.

James is shy and confused by Seth’s interest in him as a person. With Seth’s support, can he work through his fears to finally find the true love he deserves, or will someone finally land the crushing blow he won’t survive?

667, 668, 669….

A file slapped the desk in front of James, distracting him from his attempt at counting the dots in the ceiling tiles above him.

“I know you’re busy and all,” Brian said, his usual sneer in place. “But do you think you’ll have time to help a new client?” The man just lived to give him a hard time.

James took a deep breath. He desperately hoped his hatred of the man towering over him didn’t show. James Knew open displays of boredom pissed Brian off, but James hadn’t had a prospective or existing client call in two days. He’d finished his purchasing reports, sent the work orders and e-mail. All calls done. What else was he supposed to do?

“Sure, Brian. Let me see what we’ve got, and I’ll head right out,” James replied. He tried to sound upbeat. It wasn’t that he didn’t like his job; he did. But Brian hated him, and he always got the leftovers—usually clients the other designers did not want for one reason or another.

“I’m sure this one’s right up your—” Cough. “—alley,” Brian finished with a snicker.

James never figured out how someone so hateful and narrow-minded as Brian stood working in their field, much less kept his job. In James’s opinion, art, even corporate branding and design, should attract people with a bit more open-mindedness. He had a few ideas on the latter but kept his opinions, and gutter-mind, to himself.

Forcing a smile across his face as he opened the folder in front of him, James called out to Brian’s retreating form, “No worries, boss.”

Brian paused and turned to look over his shoulder and with a nasty smile added, “Oh, and the guy’ll be here in about ten minutes. Don’t screw up.”

Ten minutes? Seriously?

He started to peruse the new client information, pleased that at least the file seemed to be complete—charts, images, budget, etc.—and his phone rang. He answered on the second ring. “Good morning, James Bryant speaking.”

“Ah, Jamie, got the file yet? ’Cuz let me tell you, this one’s something else,” came the disembodied voice of his best friend and co-worker, Chase Manning. “He’s not like most of the scraps Brian-the-dick tosses you.”

“I’m sure I can handle whatever he sends my way. The clients aren’t usually as difficult as Brian and the others make them seem. They just don’t want to deal with high maintenance or quirky. Which, when you consider the job, makes no sense. But—”

“Jamie, dear,” Chase said, cutting him off. “That’s not it at all. This guy’s hot, and I mean H-O-T, hot. He’s waiting for you already and man, I so wish I had your job today,” he practically squealed. “So hurry up and get your sexy ass down here. Now.”

“Shh…. Don’t be so loud. The last thing I need is you to offend a new client. Now, go back to work and let me read over the file, would ya?” He shook his head and clicked off his Bluetooth. James glanced over the information for his new client. Seth Burns? Carl, their senior manager, had been trying to get Mr. Burns of Carrington Enterprises as a client for years. Wonder what he’s looking for and how this project slipped past Brian to me?

Setting it aside, James pulled out his messenger bag and loaded it with the folder. He already had all his staples in there: pens, pencils, a notebook or two, and a couple of sketch pads. He carefully hung it across his neck and shoulder so the bag wouldn’t slip. He preferred his backpack, but his boss frowned on “casual.” James gathered his forearm crutches, the plain black ones he only used for work, and he began the arduous task of getting up before he slipped his arms through the cuffs.

Once satisfied he wasn’t forgetting anything, James slung himself down the hall to the elevator, where he waited. He hated standing there, given Brian’s office faced the hall.

When James reached the main floor, Chase seemed to vibrate as he waited for him. His face reminded James of a child at Disney World instead of the twenty-five-year-old man he actually was.

“Do you want to meet with him down here in one of the conference rooms?” Chase pleaded, batting his eyes for full effect. He knew better than to act like that, but, oh well.

“Relax, Chase,” James said with a smile. Chase, his sometimes assistant and best friend, always worried about James walking too much, but then he never managed to understand the idea of limitations versus inability. James could walk, though he couldn’t walk far or carry much of anything. He simply needed his crutches. Limitations James loathed but had learned to accept.

“I just hate you traipsing up and down the halls. I wish—”

“Don’t,” James snapped harder than he’d meant to. “Sorry. You know I appreciate your concern, but I’m a big boy and can manage fine. Now, go back to your desk and do your job so I can do mine.”

With a huff, Chase flounced back to his desk. “Fine,” he called over his shoulder. “Be that way.”

James ignored him and pushed on, maneuvering himself around to reception to meet his new client.

They lived the life they were given; they loved the life they made.

Cheerleader Taylor Smith doesn’t want to die a virgin. Unfortunately, if the terminally-ill leukemia patient doesn’t find a lover or a stem-cell match within months, her fear will become reality. But when her cancer mentor is revealed to be a hottie entrepreneur from California, it seems fate might finally be on her side.

Tech-geek Gavin Taylor has everything he ever wanted, except someone to grieve for him when he’s gone. With his melanoma cancer beyond the help of his riches, he agrees to participate in a cancer patient mentoring program where he’s matched with a dying teen from Texas. Despite his immediate attraction, the Silicon Valley whiz intends only to provide friendship and happy memories to the beautiful, young woman who is determined to win his love.

When it’s discovered that his frozen sperm and her harvested eggs could lead to a cure, Taylor’s mother offers to be a surrogate. And Gavin must decide if he can risk the heart he has never given and a child he’ll never know to a girl he just met.

Official Excerpt:

taylor-web-copyMy blood rushed hot through my veins like a West Texas brush fire. Gavin pulled into the driveway and parked.

We were perfect together. Couldn’t he see that? When I’d asked about the matchmaker, I thought for sure he would sweep me off my feet and carry me away. He hadn’t.

He turned off the ignition and twisted in his seat to face me. “I had a great time the last three days.”

“Me, too.” I lifted my gaze to look at him, to really look at him. God, he was gorgeous, smart, fun, but also sweet and kind. Panic made me want to latch on to him and not let go. I’d rather get an IV in my eyeball than let him leave. I loved him. I always would.

He stared at back at me, his eyes misting with some emotion I couldn’t name. He was breathing heavily, too heavily. I didn’t move. I knew this game—the first one to blink loses.

Kiss me. Please kiss me.

His hand twitched. My lips parted, and I quietly gasped.

Finally, he closed his eyes, whistled out a long breath, and got out of the car.

Crud!

I wasn’t about to give up yet.

He walked around and opened my door, offering his hand. I clasped it and yanked myself from the seat so quickly that I collided with his chest. He dropped my hand and jumped back like I’d burnt him.

I slapped my palm against my thigh. “What is your problem? Am I so repulsive that you can’t stand to accidentally touch me?”

His face paled, and his Adam’s apple bobbed as he swallowed hard. “No. Of course not. It’s late. I’m sorry.”

It’s late? What kind of excuse was that? My shoulders sagged as he swiftly ushered me to the door. I tried to smile hopefully. “You wanna come in?”

He eyed me up and down then shook his head like he was trying to remove a bug clinging to his ear. “I better go. I have an early flight tomorrow.”

“So that’s it then? You’re just gonna leave?” Everything inside me fell to my toes.

He smiled sympathetically. Slapping the pacifying expression off his face crossed my mind.

“Hey. It won’t be that bad.” He reached out to brush my arm but let his fingers fall short. “We’ll talk on the phone, and maybe you and your Mom can come for a visit in a few weeks.”

He leaned to kiss my cheek, but I stuck my fingers over his lips. His mouth was soft and warm. Heat spread from my fingers into my arm and through my body. I pulled my hand away so I could concentrate. I was not about to let this end here. “I don’t want a kiss on the cheek, Gavin.”

“I understand.” He held out his hand for me to shake.

I crinkled my nose and frowned. “No. You don’t understand. I want a kiss, but not on the cheek.”

He rubbed a palm across his forehead. “Taylor, we’ve gone over this.”

“No, we haven’t. You’re leaving and—let’s face it—I’ll never see you again. You know it, and I know it.” My voice broke. I stood tall and continued, “You came here to mentor me, take me on a few outings, and give me happy memories. You’ve done that. But I’m asking for one last thing.” I twirled my hair and met his gaze. “I want a real kiss.”

He started shaking his head before I even finished. “No.”

Crud-ola! “Why not?”

“Taylor, you know the answer. I told you from the beginning. It’s not appropriate.”

He hadn’t said he didn’t want to. I glared at him and decided to pull out the big guns. “It’s one harmless kiss, Gavin, and it’s a dying girl’s wish.”

His jaw twitched. “That’s not fair, and you know it.”

“Fair? Are we talking about fair now? What’s not fair is that I’ll never get married or have children or even be in love. You’re all I get.” I waved my hand between us. “This is all I get.”

He set his jaw stubbornly, but his eyes betrayed him. “I’ve offered you what I’m willing to give.”

Tears stung my eyes. Damn it. I hated crying, but I couldn’t help it. He’d hit the nail. “You’re no better than those doctors offering me another round of chemo, knowing it won’t do any good and would only make me weaker, sicker.” I crossed my arms over my chest. “Well, I won’t settle for less. I’m settling for too little as it is.” I swiped at my stupid tears. My pulse pounded. I was fighting with everything I had. “How many women have you been with?”

He squinted in apparent disbelief. “What kind of question is that?”

I stamped my foot. “How many?”

He almost yelled it at me. “A few.”

“Do you remember how it felt to be with them? To love them? Would you trade those memories because a few people say it’s not okay?”

He darted his gaze around the front yard, shifting his weight from side to side. Even in the dim light of the porch I could see his mind working through possibilities, making him uncomfortable.

“There’s no one out there in the dark to tell you it’s okay. You have to decide.” His resistance appeared to be breaking. I pressed on. “What memory do you want to leave me with? What memory do you want to take? Is it really such a sickening thought? Just one kiss.”

He stared back at me with a wildness that scared me. My heart drummed a xylophone chord across my ribs.

Taylor.…

I locked in on his gaze and stepped toward him. “Tonight you get to decide what you can live with or without. I’m asking for one moment.”

Stopping inches from him, I absorbed the tension like a thirsty towel. Electric sparks flew between us. The only sounds were our shallow breaths.

Softly, I went in for the kill. “A kiss goodnight. Is it really too much, Gavin?”

Daryl Devore and A Sexual Release with Toys

Yes — I meant it! In her new erotic fantasy, Capri’s Fate, Daryl delves into the Adult Toy arena and it is mmm…hot, slippery fun!

CaprisFateGrab a cup of coffee and settle back while I talk about my newly released erotic contemporary fantasy, Capri’s Fate.

Capri is dragged to a sex toy convention by her best friend. I, honestly, had no idea she was going there until I typed it. What I based the Erotic Notions Sex Show (private joke) on was Sexapalooza, a real adult consumer show. http://www.sexapalooza.ca/shows

I’ve never been to one and I think I captured Capri’s basic fear when she discovers that’s where she is.

“Well, it seems like a popular attraction.” I paid the cabbie, and we followed the crowd into the building. As I read the convention billboard, my feet froze to the sidewalk. I snapped my face in her direction. “Erotic Notions! The…the sex show!”

“Yup. Keep moving. You’re blocking people behind us.” She nudged my arm to urge me forward. “I pre-ordered tickets. You just need to pay.”

“I’m not going in there.” I moved to the side and placed my hands on my hips.

“Oh, come on.” Kat tugged my elbow. “It’ll be fun. What else were you going to do tonight? Wash your hair?”

“But, what if…” My stomach dropped to my knees.

“Don’t say it. I know, what if someone sees us. Girl, we’re over twenty-one. We’ve both been married and divorced. We’re thirty-three.”

“Excuse me. Thirty-two until August.”

“Thirty-two. Geesh. But still, I think we’re labeled as cougar wannabees. Not old enough to be a cougar. Not young enough to be a cheerleader.”

I opened my mouth to voice another valid complaint, but Kat shushed me with a perfect teenage roll of her eyes and the first logical thing she’d said all night. “If somebody sees us, they’re in there too—duh!”

Items to find in a sex toy convention. Clothes, more specifically, a bustier. This sexy item plays a big part in the story. The moment Capri spots the red silk one, she is in love.

“Well, let’s try lingerie. I have this gorgeous red bustier, with…” Patsy poked her fingers through the bra part. “With the playfulness of being a peek-a-boo.”

Something—someone?—nudged my arm. Of its own accord, my hand reached out and my fingers grabbed the bustier out of Patsy’s grip. I had always wanted one of these. To me, it symbolized a sexual tigress. A woman who can strut into a room and capture every man’s attention. Of course not me. Not in a hundred years.

“I have this regal blue one.” Pasty held it out. “It matches your eyes.”

I didn’t hand the red one back to her. I couldn’t. Red’s my favorite color.

CaprisFate_EbookCover Brain fart moment – when I listed important things that should be on the cover never thought of bustier. See first cover. Editor asked – why didn’t I mention red bustier?  Cover designer was wonderful and ta da – new cover! (Kayden McLeod designer the cover.)

Other things to find at a sex show. Sex toys. Let’s start with the obvious – a dildo.

As an aside, there is a town in Newfoundland that is called Dildo Run. Not lying- they even have a provincial park called – Dildo Run Provincial Park – http://www.env.gov.nl.ca/env/parks/parks/p_dr/

As I was researching dildos – now there’s a sentence I never thought I’d type – anyway – what caught my attention was a glass one. Capri’s thoughts at the moment she is shown one are pretty much my own.

“If you are into the more sensuous.” Patsy picked up a glass dildo. “This little baby is called A Woman’s Delight. The latest in the glass line. Its ridges and g-spot teasers are designed to heat up your playtime. I know what you’re thinking, but it’s completely non-porous, so it stays germ-free.”

“No. No.” I waved my hand at it. “I’m more worried it’ll break. I mean, it’s glass. And…uh…where it’s supposed to go…I mean…um…”Puul-lease beam me out of here, Scotty.

She patted my shoulder. “They’re built really strong, dearie.”

“Oh, good.” My smile was a pathetic little one, but it was the best I could do.

Poor Capri, all she wanted was dinner with her friend. What she got was – a trip to a sex toy convention, a glass dildo, a bustier, a Fate, a pet komodo dragon and a love that will last into eternity.

Blurb – What’s a woman to do when a voice follows her home and makes mad, passionate love to her?

Corporate business woman, Capricious Gray, is dragged to a sex toy convention by her best friend. Once a shocking, mysterious disembodied voice helps her with her purchases, it follows her home. Passion ensues, leaving Capri torn between lust for her fantasy lover and the desperate need for reality in her life.

Thall, son of one of the Fates, harbors the irrepressible need to be with the woman he’s desired from afar for years. In order to make her his, once and for all, he must help Capri get past her fears, including the fear of what he represents – a fantasy.

Can fantasy become a reality for these two lovers?

Sex in the Middle Ages with Jenna Jaxon

Welcome my friend Jenna Jaxon. She’s here promoting her newest release, the first story, Betrothal from her Time Enough for Love Trilogy.

Thanks, for having me, Casea.

Medieval bedSex in the Medieval City

The medieval period is well known for its courtly love.  Knights and ladies, chivalry, honor.  It also, however, was a time for some pretty interesting sexual shenanigans.

Did you know…

People in medieval times believed that women needed to experience an orgasm in order to conceive.  Galen, a prominent Roman physician, insisted that a woman must be aroused and brought to climax–preferably at the same time as her partner–in order to release her “female sperm” and allow a child to be created.  To aid in this, there were actual medieval manuals providing detailed instructions for bringing a woman to climax, including suggestions for foreplay.

Because the Church regulated everything about sex, they decreed that the “missionary position” was the correct, sin-free position to procreate.  But because people would simply not remain “sin-free,” a German bishop, Albertus-Magnus, came up with a list of the five least objectionable sexual positions and the ones least likely to send you to hell:  1) missionary; 2) side-by-side; 3) sitting; 4) standing; and 5)  a tergo (from behind). I wonder what they would have thought about the Kama Sutra?

Oral sex was punishable by three years of imprisonment.

Fashion was an indicator of sexual prowess:  the length of a man’s long, pointy shoes (called poulaines) supposedly indicated the length of his penis.  Also, the codpiece was a major fashion statement, made to fit over the man’s genitals and sometimes making the man look like he had a hard-on.

If a woman lost her virginity, but wanted to deceive her groom, there were several methods available for her to “fake” virginity.  The Hebrew Book of Women’s Love “take myrtle leaves and boil them well with water until only a third part remains; then, take nettles without prickles and boil them in this water until a third remains. She must wash her secret parts with this water in the morning and at bedtime, up to nine days” or, if that will take too long, to “take nutmeg and grind [it] to a powder; put it in that place and [her virginity] will be restored immediately.”

There were various and severe penalties for people who had sex outside of marriage. In 1314, King Phillip of France discovered his three Medieval_shoedaughters-in-law where having affairs.  This scandal, called the Tour de Nesle Affair, resulted in two of the daughters-in-law being found guilty.  Their heads were shaved and they were sentenced to life in prison.  The two knights with whom they had the affair, Gautier and Philippe d’Aunay, were found guilty, tortured, castrated, and drawn and quartered.

Literature of the period, such as The Art of Courtly Love by Andreas Capellanus, encourage adultery.  A “wise woman M., Countess of Champagne, declares that true love cannot exist between a husband and wife.” She also writes the “a precept of love tells us that no woman, even if she is married, can be crowned with the reward of the King of Love unless she is seen to be enlisted in the service of Love himself outside the bonds of wedlock.”

Dildos were known to be used in the middle ages, although the evidence we have is due to the Catholic Church’s setting down punishment for their use.  They provide that if a woman made “a device in the shape of the male member of a size to match your sinful desire… you shall do penance for five years on legitimate holy days.”

They just didn’t want you to have any fun!

In the medieval period, it was a custom for the man, after taking his wife’s virginity, to present her with a “morning gift” to compensate for the loss.

This is considered an old wives tale, even in the middle ages, but probably at one time it was thought that men could only sire one child at a time, therefore if a woman gave birth to twins, she was thought to have slept with two men.

Thanks for accompanying me on this little tour of Sex in the Medieval City.  So were the “good ole days” really that good, at least in the sex department?

betrothal-with-log finalBlurb for Betrothal:

Lady Alyse de Courcy has fallen in love with Lord Braeton, a nobleman in King Edward III’s court and a man to whom she has barely spoken. Fate, however, has decreed her betrothal to his best friend, Sir Geoffrey Longford—a handsome and imposing knight, yet hardly the man she wants to wed.

When Sir Geoffrey is bound in betrothal by his father, he could not have expected the beautiful stranger to win his heart the moment they meet. Nevertheless, the fascinating Lady Alyse has done exactly that, and his feelings for her only grow as he learns more of her gentle yet spirited nature. But Alyse’s infatuation with his friend casts doubt on whether she can ever return his regard and their wedding day is fast approaching…

Will he have time enough to win her love?

Excerpt for Betrothal:

“What do you require of me, Majesty?” Her mouth so dry she could taste sand, Alyse fought to speak in a normal tone. With a sigh of relief, she dropped into a deep curtsy, hiding her face in the folds of her skirt. If only she could remain bowed thus before His Majesty for the remainder of the evening.

King Edward laughed. “Obedience, Lady Alyse, as I require of all my subjects. As your father requires of his daughter.”

Her heart thumped wildly in her breast. That could mean but one thing.

“Rise, my lady.”

She did so on unsteady feet. “I am ready, as always, Your Majesty, to obey my father as I would you.”

Holy Mary, let it be Lord Braeton.

King Edward lifted an eyebrow toward Alyse. “A very pretty answer, my lady. And are you ready to accept your father’s decree for your betrothal? His messenger has today reached me with the contract, as I am to stand in his stead in this matter.”

Alyse took a deep breath and hoped her voice did not tremble. “Yea, Majesty, I will obey my father.”

King Edward nodded and leaned over to whisper something to Queen Phillipa, who sat beside him, heavy with their twelfth child.

Mere seconds before she learned her fate. She could scarce affect an indifferent pose before the court when inside every inch of her quivered with anticipation of the name. His name, pray God, on the king’s lips.

Thomas.

In her mind, she heard the word.

The king straightened, glanced at her then at the man by her side.

“What say you then, Sir Geoffrey? Does the lady not speak fair? I vow she will make you a proper wife and a dutiful one as well.”

Alyse turned, until that moment unaware that Geoffrey Longford stood beside her. Chills coursed down her body as the king’s words echoed in her mind. The sensation of falling backward assailed her, as though she rushed away from the tall man at her side even as his figure loomed larger and larger in her sight.

Not Lord Braeton.

Her numbed brain repeated the phrase, trying to comprehend that instead he would be her husband. Geoffrey Longford.

God have mercy on me, for by the look of him, this man will not.

Fearful, she cringed as her gaze climbed higher, over his chest, over his chin, finally resting on the dark blue eyes turned toward her.

Geoffrey returned her appraisal, his gaze sweeping her figure as a smile crept over his face. “Your Majesty.” He spoke to the king but his attention remained fixed on Alyse. “When my father told me of the betrothal contract before I left his home, I resolved to play the dutiful son. Now, however, I find I do not wish to act that role after all.” His eyes held hers as he paused.

Dear God, does he mean to renounce me here before the entire court?

Alyse stared at the man beside her, willing herself to remain upright, despite the waves of ice and fire alternating through her body.

“Now I find I would rather play the ardent lover.”

An amused murmur ran through the Hall at his words. Sir Geoffrey grinned, his eyes sparkling with humor and something more. Despite the uneven light, Alyse saw an unfathomable promise in their dark depths. She took a shaky breath and looked away.

Book Spotlight: Light the Shadows by Michelle Clay

LighttheshadowsBlurb:

You only get one chance at life then you die. The game’s over, no second chances.  But she was never one to follow all the rules.

In a strange twist of fate, a woman flees purgatory only to jump into a newly vacated body. When she wakes in the hospital, she has a brand new life and a whole lot of unanswered questions.  Now she’s Micah Munroe, a real estate agent with broken memories of the messed up life she once lived. A mysterious man who claims to be Death says she’s his granddaughter and that she’s something called a grimm.

Sully knows she’s an imposter because he reaped the soul of the real Micah only a week ago. He suspects she might be a misplaced shadow, what he calls spirits and vengeful ghosts. He becomes obsessed with finding out who she really is and just how she inhabited a new body.  He’ll stop at nothing to find the truth and send her back to purgatory where she belongs.  What he didn’t bargain on was how his body would react to her or how powerful the white light within her is.

When a powerful shadow and her horde of angry spirits kidnaps Sully’s best friend, they must work together to get him back.  Fighting their feelings for each other isn’t half as difficult as fighting the army of shadows bent on starting a war with the living.

Excerpt:

His husky drawl sent a vibration of hunger through her and ignited a fire deep within her core. “You are so fucking hot.”

Recapturing her mouth, he pressed against her, proving just how hot, how hard she made him. Micah whimpered, and he drew his mouth away from her lips. Just like his tongue and hands, his incredibly sexy eyes ignited a fire within her.

“Sully.” She bit her lower lip and reveled in knowing she was the reason he was so hard.

His fingers were at her waist, unzipping then dragging the dress pants down her hips. Micah trembled with need as he shucked them from her legs and dropped them onto the floor. He closed the space between them, and her thighs closed around his waist. Her sex drowned with desire, clouding her mind with seductive thoughts and want. With him so intimately close, his hard-on pressed against her through the damp lace of her panties. She shifted her hips, and Sully rewarded her with a groan.

“Tell me something.” He grinned wickedly then slid his fingers up her inner thigh. They inched closer to her pool of desire and made her heartbeat race. “Are you wet?”

Her hands lifted from his shoulders, ran through his silken hair and down to his chest. Her nimble fingers fluttered across his shirt and even reached the second button before his hand closed over hers, stilling it. He prevented her from going any further by pulling her hand to his mouth. One by one, he kissed her fingers.

She frowned and pulled away from him to look up into his eyes. “Sully, I want…”

“I know what you want, doll.” His eyes glittered with feral passion.

A gasp shuddered past her lips when Sully’s index finger slid past the ribbon-thin panties then traveled downward. His finger slid through the tight coils of hair at the juncture of her thighs then lightly grazed her most delicate area. She clutched his shoulders and tightened her thighs around him. “Sully!”

“Want me to stop?” His voice was full of gravel and sexy as hell.

She nipped his bottom lip. “Don’t you dare.”

QoJlargeOfficial Excerpt:

When Avant climbed back to the cave, his hair was wet. He’d slicked it back from his face and tied it into a little ponytail with a leather string. The sexy shadow of a light beard softened his angular jaw, and the thick waves of his hair shined with chestnut highlights in the morning sun. It was a good look for him, but then again, what wasn’t? Abby ran her fingers through her own tangled tresses and pulled her hair back. What she wouldn’t give for a hairclip.

Would you like a thong for your hair?”

She giggled at the word thong, certain that what she pictured was not what he referenced. “Do you have an extra one? I’d like to get it out of my face, and I don’t have anything.” Actually she had her own thong, but she sure as hell wasn’t putting it in her hair.

He immediately unlaced the tie at the neck of his shirt and handed it to her.

She gasped and put a hand to her face to hide the heat in her cheeks as his shirt fell open below his breast bone. “You don’t have to do that.”

Her blood coursed wildly at the sight of the smooth muscles of his chest. A soft sprinkling of dark hair beckoned her fingers. She swallowed hard.

“It’s all right. Please use it. It will be a hard day’s journey with hair in your face.” His words rang in her mind so sincerely she forgot her embarrassment, but her eyes kept flitting to his heavenly chest.

Thank you, Avant, and not only for the lace but for everything you’re doing to help me.

Holding her gaze, he nodded once, and her heart fluttered. Was it getting warm in the cave? She wiped the beads of sweat from her forehead.

“It is time to be off if we are to make it to the next shelter before nightfall.” He picked up his pack and walked to the mouth of the cave. She grabbed her bag and followed.

Climbing down proved to be more difficult than going up. The muscles required to lower herself from one level to the next worked her thighs and butt like no gym equipment she’d ever experienced. It was like doing hours of squats. She trudged down the mountain with the previous day’s tumult weighting her down like the “freshman ten.” Avant helped her along on the steeper steps, but, for the most part, she made them on her own, clippity-clopping in those damned Docinis all the way.

When he reached the bottom, he disappeared around an outcropping. Abby took the last little step to the base and hurried after him. As she turned the corner, Avant grabbed her arm and spun her around. Driving her back against the rock, he pressed the length of his rigid body against her. His face, barely three inches from hers, clenched in thin lines of stress. Her heart raced…with fear.

She was pretty sure it was fear.
